Margot Ann Dorwin entered into rest on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born in Wichita, Kansas and was found abandoned in a hotel room with her twin sister when she was three days old. The girls were taken to the Kansas Children’s Home & Service League where they remained until they were 15 months old. At that time, they were both adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Fisher. Margot had been named Lila Faye Jones at the orphanage and the Fishers changed her name to Margot Ann.
She led an interesting life including being a secretary in the White House when Harry Truman was president. President Truman spoke to her in the hallway once and asked her if she had just voted in the presidential election. When she replied that she hadn’t, he asked her why. She told him because she was a Republican and she didn’t want to vote against him.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Helen Fisher, Jack Dorwin, her husband of 47 years, son, David Dorwin, infant daughter and sister, Shirley Sence.
She is survived by her stepson, Paul Dorwin and his wife, Vivian of Las Vegas and their son, Justin Dorwin; daughter, Shannon Dorwin Barney; two grandchildren, James and William Dorwin
A Celebration of life will be held on at two o'clock in the afternoon, Monday, June 6, 2022 at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Brian Waddell officiating.
