Elvira Nancy Abbey was born on February 27, 1943, in Livingston, TX. Passed away on April 29, 2024, in Conroe, TX. She was 81 years old, and a member of the Deer clan.
She is preceded in death by: Parents: Vincent & Margaret Celestine, Brother: Nelson Celestine, Son: Carlton Langley, Grandson: Brad Williams, Nieces: Ramona Celestine & Rhonda Celestine, Nephews: Gabriel Celestine & Bryant Celestine
Survivors: Brother: Sadler Celestine and wife Carol of Woodville, TX, Daughter: Rosanne Langley of Livingston, TX, Son: Erwin Langley and wife Bernitta of Livingston, TX, Grandchildren: Ross Abbey III, Ivan Abbey, Troy & Krista Langley, Tamara Langley, Laine Langley, and Taiana Langley. Eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She attended Kirby High in Woodville, TX. Afterwards, attended Angelina Junior College in Lufkin, TX with a degree in Business/Accounting.
She worked for the Polk County Enterprise for 15 years, then the Tyler County Booster for 7 years, and Woodsman Newspaper for about 7 years. She was employed by the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, where she worked in the accounting department. With 25 years of employment for the tribe, she retired in 2015.
She loved making crafts, sewing, cooking, baking, photography, and her family. She enjoyed traveling with the Tribal Elders and doing puzzles at the Senior Citizens Center.
She attended the First Texas Indian Baptist Church on the Indian Reservation, in which she served as a Missions Clerk and Baptist Cemetery Committee.
Pallbearers: Troy Langley, Ross Abbey III, Anthony (Tony) Celestine, Laine Langley, Connor Williams, Manning "p' Nut" Robinson, Gesse Bullock, and Trey Bullock.
A Visitation for Nancy will be held beginning at 9:00a with a Celebration of Nancy's life to begin at 10:00a, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Pace Funeral Home, in Livingston, Texas, with Pastor Herbert Johnson Jr. officiating.
Interment will be at a later date due to weather at the Indian Village Cemetery, on the Alabama- Coushatta Indian Reservation.
