The oilfield was more than just a job to John—it was a way of life, one that reflected his toughness, reliability, and commitment.
In his quieter moments, John enjoyed fishing and solving crossword puzzles, activities that allowed him to relax and challenge his mind. He was also a devoted sports fan and an accomplished athlete in his younger years. John was a left-handed quarterback and an exceptional competitor, holding the pole vaulting record for the Hull-Daisetta Junior High team—an achievement he carried with pride.
One of John’s greatest joys in life was his little dog, Baby. He was his constant companion, and he dearly loved him. Baby brought John comfort, companionship, and unconditional love, and the bond they shared was truly special.
John (Bubba aka John, Jr. ) is survived by his loving sisters: Pam LaDeana Compston; Johnnie Kay Burns; and Grace Aline Boothe and her husband, Larry. He was also a cherished uncle and great-uncle to many, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and lots of other kin folks.
John will be remembered as a hardworking man with a big heart, a love for sports and the outdoors, and a deep devotion to his family and faithful companion. His legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him, and he will be dearly missed. |
