In high school, Doris excelled as a first-string forward on the basketball team and was crowned FFA Queen, showcasing her spirit and leadership.
On December 27, 1953, she married the love of her life, R.A. Hunter, and together they built a devoted partnership that lasted a lifetime. Doris was a faithful and devoted Christian, deeply involved in her church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and led her local Women's Missionary Alliance (WMA) group until health issues limited her participation.
A talented homemaker and exceptional cook, Doris poured her heart into caring for her family. She was a loving daughter who tended to her parents until their passing, a devoted wife, and a nurturing mother.
