Stanley Jean Sobota of Onalaska, Texas was called home by his Heavenly Father.
Stanley was born July 7th 1947 in Orange, TX and passed peacefully on December 19th 2025 at Clyde W. Cosper - TX State Veterans Home in Bonham, TX
Stanley loved his Country and served proudly in the United States Army. After his service, Stanley joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union (Local 350 Sparks, NV) where he would experience life across the United States working in 48 of the 50 states over his 45 year tenure. As a pipefitter and welder, he was highly commended for his level of craftsmanship and strong work ethic. Stanley was one of the crew members who rose the American flag on the Goldman Sachs Tower in New Jersey after the September 11th attacks on the Twin Towers.
“Stan the Man” was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and the sounds of nature. Stanley enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and cheering on his Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Astros. He was a dog lover who owned and raised several Labrador Retrievers.
Stanley is survived by his Sons, Trevor Collins and Wife, Beth Collins of Wylie, TX and Stephen Sobota of McKinney, TX. Their Mother, Eva DuMond of McKinney, TX and his beloved Grandchildren, Tatum and Ellison Sobota, Kennedy and Levi Collins.
Stanley is preceded in death by his beloved Grandmother, Maude Shackleford of Jasper, TX. Parents, John J. Sobota II and Neala Faye Shackleford. Siblings, Mary Sobota Goins, Arthur Johnson, and Patsy Johnson Khoury.
