Greg passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Greg lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work. His infectious smile, hearty laugh, and sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him.
Born to Leavon Dell Haynes Kelley and the late William Luther Haynes, Greg was a man who could often be found in his favorite places: hunting, fishing, or just "messing around" in his shop. Whether fixing something or simply enjoying the process, he found peace and satisfaction in staying busy with his hands.
Greg retired from TDC after 20 years of service. He was loyal and dedicated worker who when asked to do something always found a way to get it done, He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. At work, he became famous for pointing his finger around the building -not to do the work, but to supervise it. It was a running joke among those who knew him well, and one that still brings smiles. He also enjoyed sitting beside his mom while she played Puff the Magic Dragon, and was always up for a good game of pool.
His friendships were strong, his laugh unforgettable, and his dedication to the people he loved was unmatched. Above all else, Greg was a man of deep love-devoted to his wife, Linda, and proud of the family they loved together.
He is lovingly survived by his mother, Leavon Dell Haynes Kelley, and his in-law parents, Herman and Lillie Johnson, who held a special place in his heart. Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Gale Haynes; his son, William Travis Haynes; stepsons, Jimmie Mercer Jr. and wife Sherri, and Norman Mercer and wife Carly; and daughters, Brandy Fowler and partner Connie, and Mandy Little and husband Clay.
He was a proud grandfather to Travis Haynes, Chyanne Haynes, AJ Fowler, Wyatt Little, Waylon Little, and Kasey Slaughter, and step-grandfather to Tiffany Mercer, Krystal Hines and husband Aric, Jimmie Mercer ill, Tommy Mercer and wife Shelby, Jazmine Morton and husband Eric, Logan Mercer, and Oaklynn Mercer. He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Billy Haynes and wife Jaclyn; sister-in-law Patricia Fincher and husband Roscoe ("Baney"); sister-in-law Shelly Johnson; and brother-in-law John Morris. Greg's extended family includes many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends -including his best friend, Mac McClendon, who was like a brother to him.
