Doris Lucille Ferry-Brown, 87, of Lake Livingston, Texas passed away on February 9, 2021. She was born on August 22, 1933 in Roans Prairie, Texas to Steve Nowak and Alice (Pavlock) Nowak.

Doris grew up in Houston, TX before moving with her family to Spring Branch where she raised three children and worked many years as a bookkeeper for Allstate Insurance Co. She was a savvy businesswoman, starting Miracar Body Shops with husband Bob Brown where she worked until retirement. She and Bob spent weekends on Lake Livingston before moving there permanently in 1987.

Nana regularly hosted neighborhood fish fries and barbecues; her cheese balls and pecan desserts were renowned. She loved having monthly luncheons with the women of the Crescent Shores Birthday Club. She was President of and volunteered for the Polk County Mission Center of Hope food bank well into her 80s, and passionately supported her local animal shelter. Family remember her diligence in sending birthday cards that let you know she was proud of you and she accepted and loved you no matter what, and for her strength, stamina and fierce sense of independence.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Nowak, husband Robert Brown, daughter-in-law Kelly Koteras, stepson Michael Brown, stepdaughter-in-law Kathy Brown.

She is survived by her loving partner Allen Lostak; children Charlotte McMillan (Jack), Terri Graves (Harvey), Raymond Keith Koteras (Maria); stepson Andrew Brown; grandchildren Chelsea, Lindsay, Tommy, David, Kristin, Kari and Jake; great-grandchildren Wade, Collins, Avery, Lane, Hunter and Case; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Livingston on Saturday Feb 13 at Pace Funeral Home 11am. A private graveside service will take place Wednesday Feb 17th at Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, TX at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Polk County Mission, SPCA of Polk County, or the AT Children's fund.

My heart is broken..I’ve lost a best friend.. Doris and I have been friends for 35 or 40 years. She was such a wonderful person,. My whole family loved her. She was always there for you, in good times or bad, no matter what was happening. I will miss her so much. We had so much fun playing “hands and feet”, a card game.. and we played many many games of “42”. She will never be forgotten. We ended each phone all with “I love you”, and I do love her very much..

Doris was a friend of mine and our family for many years. She was always there for anyone who was in need. She was a wealth of knowledge for us about Crescent Shores. She will be greatly missed.
