Betty Joyce Hinsley went to be with her Lord on October 18, 2021, in Ivanhoe at the age of 92. She was born on July 30, 1929, in Detroit, MI to Charles Collins and Minnie Canady Collins. Betty was a member of Woodville United Methodist Church and Fellowship Sunday School Class. Betty has been a longtime resident of Ivanhoe having moved from San Antonio in 1975. She was a member of the 1st class of the Dogwood Square Dancers/Round Dancers and performed at many competitions throughout the United States and also belonged to the Ivanhoe Civic and Garden Clubs and Lunch Bunch. Betty was an accomplished seamstress and designed dance costumes for many recitals for her daughters. She was the entrepreneur of three businesses alongside her husband, Dale, and was a consummate crossword puzzle and game enthusiast. Up to six days per week you could find Betty playing card games, bingo, or Mexican train with her beloved family and friends. She and Dale were avid travelers across the United States and also visited Canada, France and the Netherlands. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Collins and Minnie Canady Collins, stepmother Emily Robinson Collins, husbands Dale E. Hinsley and Gene E. Pierce, and brothers Charles Collins and E.C. Collins. She is survived by her loving daughters Sharon Melton of San Antonio, Brenda Drennan of Lufkin, Linda Gibbs of Summerdale, AL, and Carol Jones of San Antonio; grandchildren, Matthew Alber of Portland, OR, Jason (Melissa) Anderson of Spring Branch, TX, Robert (Sofia) Melton of Woonsocket, RI, Jeremy (Julia) Gibbs of Spanish Fort, AL, Brandon (Jana) Gibbs of Morristown, TN, Lee (Margaret) Jones of Marion, TX, Ian (Britany) Melton of Rolling Prairie, IN, Kenneth Jones of Marion, TX, Bryce Alber of Los Angeles, CA, and Austin (Haley) Gibbs of Daphne, AL; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
