Born on January 1, 1936, in LaPorte, Texas to Jessie Obern Crawford and Rhoda McDonald Crawford and passed into heaven on April 30, 2022, at her home in Livingston, Texas after a long illness. Gwen married the love of her life Curtis Ray Gokey in 1957 and to this union were born three children- Debra, Donnie, and Nora. After raising their family and retiring Gwen and Curtis moved back home to Polk County. Gwen was a devoted member of Goodrich First Baptist Church where she willingly filled any needed position. While Gwen Loved her family unconditionally, she loved God even more than that. Gwen took on the Christian task of working to help bring countless people to know and accept Christ as their savior. Gwen was also known as a strong and relentless prayer warrior, who would spend hours in intercessory prayer for others. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Rhoda Crawford; her brothers, James, Jesse, and Dalton; her sister, Elnora Tucker; and two brothers- in- law, Charles Gokey and Bobby Gokey Sr. She is Survived by her beloved husband Curtis Ray Gokey; children, Debra Gokey & Tyrone, Donnie Gokey & wife Felecia, and Nora Kerr; Five grandchildren, Donald Ray Gokey II & wife Laura, Christopher Gokey & wife Kierston, Kendra Brown, Robert Kerr & wife Brandi, and Heather Swann & husband Bryan; seven great-grandchildren, Donnie Ray III, Casey, Haley, Conner, Presley, Levi, and Wyatt; sister-in-law, Sandra Gokey; and, numerous nieces and nephews. One of Gwen’s favorite verses: God evaluates and weighs your attitudes and action. The real tragedy of your life would be to come up deficient on God’s scale. Consistently measure each action with “Would this please God?” A visitation for Gwen will be Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 5p-8p at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
