Gail S Herd was born July 15, 1946 in Ballinger TX and grew up in Graham Texas. She was called home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2021 surrounded by family in Ace, Texas. Gail is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, David W Herd. Her brother, William Steadham and wife Daisy of Conroe TX, daughters Nita Gail Herd of Billings MT, Rachele Herd Vollert and her husband David of Fairbanks AK and her bonus Daughter Amy Martin of Livingston. Grandchildren Courtney, Kevin and his wife Billie, Kraig Dylan, Dalton and Gracie. Her great grandchildren; Alaynna, Dakota and Kevin Wade. She was the favorite Aunt to many nieces and nephews and has many cousins that she loved dearly. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Juanita Steadham and her sisters Sandy and Theresa. After they raised their two daughters, Gail returned to school and graduated from San Jacinto College with a degree in Engineering Technology. From there, she and David travelled and worked together all over the world – Aruba, Trinidad, the Gulf Coast but her favorite was France. Gail was a proud lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as President for post 8953 Romayer and Senior Vice President for District 2. Gail supported many local charities in her area, with the shelter for battered women being dear to her heart. Gail and David were able to retire at their favorite place, ‘Herd’s Haven’, on Taylor Lake, in Ace, Texas. She was an avid gardener and could grow a rock. They enjoyed Rv’ing and Harley Riding, visiting numerous states and National Parks. Her favorite place was the mountains of the Great Divide. Gail was also wise and supportive; she was the go-to for friends and family for advice and there was nothing she would not do for her friends or family. She would stand beside you and help you fight your battles, then celebrate your victories or mourn your loss, but she would always encourage, no matter the outcome. Gail will be missed by her family and friends, but her legacy will live on in their hearts. A memorial will be held at Pace Funeral Home, 200 FM 350 North in Livingston Texas on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 1:00pm
