Rhonda Lynn Gaubatz was born on July 9, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to Patricia Jean Palermo. She passed away on October 24, 2026, in Point Blank, Texas, at the age of 61.
Rhonda was a woman whose personality was every bit as big as her heart. She was a firecracker who could light up a room, make just about anyone laugh, and leave a lasting impression wherever she went. She had a quick wit and a smart mouth, and even when she might get you a little worked up, you couldn't help but want to laugh and give her a hug at the same time. Rhonda loved people, loved life, and had a special way of making those around her feel welcome and loved.
She found joy in the simple things, especially cooking Italian food and sharing meals with the people she loved. She also had a particular appreciation for Sonic ice and Dr Pepper. She even purchased her own ice machine, but as far as Rhonda was concerned, nothing could ever quite measure up to Sonic ice!
Her grandchildren knew her affectionately as MawMaw, a title she held dear. They will carry with them the memories, laughter, and love that made her such a special part of their lives.
Rhonda and her loving husband, Dennis Gaubatz Jr., eventually made the move from West Columbia to Point Blank, choosing life by the lake and the slower pace that came with it. It was a new chapter they shared together, filled with the everyday moments that make a life. Dennis loved Rhonda dearly, and her absence will leave a place in his heart that can never be filled. Though he must now continue without her by his side, he holds close the love and memories they shared until they meet in Heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Gaubatz Jr.; her mother, Patricia Palermo; her sons, Joe Ryan Savoi and Scott Stringfellow and wife, Sherrie; daughters, Kelly Crow and husband Brian, Kaitlen Hugins, Kristen Hernandez and husband James; her brothers, John M. Palermo Jr. and wife, Keitha, and Michael Palermo and wife, Donna; her beloved grandchildren, Emerson, Parker, Wyatt, Wade, Weston, Harper, Kassidy, Alayssa, Aaliyah, Tatum, Steve, Tawni and Laven; as well as numerous other loved ones and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John M. Palermo Sr., and her daughter-in-law, Jackie Savoi.
Rhonda's laughter, quick wit, generous heart, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Life will be a little quieter without her, but the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.
