"My best memories of Uncle Jerry are listening to ZZ Top & CCR on our way to some kind of adventure and his beautiful, infectious, sincere, and loving laugh with tears from his eyes filling the “Ram Charger”.
The fun holidays, vacations, fishing & crabbing all over Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
Hunting from Camp Wood, Tx for deer and to a “lil pond” outside Houston for some duck.
Fishing, later still, at Livingston Lake on a Great Hurricane outboard deck boat.
That beautiful, infectious, sincere, and loving laugh is still with me and will be forever.
The awesome jokes and quirky banter on these many trips and adventures with an uncle that was not just an ordinary uncle, but a great friend that will be missed by me and many others.
Although he didn’t have a “Bates Butt”( up for discussion) he had a “Bates Heart” that gave him his desire for adventure and a great sense of humor-along with that beautiful, infectious, sincere, and loving laugh."
