Sylvia Ann Walker Sweany, age 65 of Livingston, Texas , unexpectedly and peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2009 with her devoted husband Thomas Sweany, at her side. Sylvia was born November 16, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a Registered Nurse and specialized in Diabetes Education and private duty nursing. Mrs. Sweany graduated from University of Phoenix with a Bachelors in Nursing. Visitation will be held February 24, 2009 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Pace Funeral Home. Services will be held the following day at 2:00PM, with Reverend Kevin Hindmon officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Ruby Cemetery.
Preceding her in death was her beloved son, Thomas Rusty Sweany; and parents, Randall and Zilphia Walker. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Thomas Sweany; daughter G. Renee Sweany-Roy, and husband Rob Roy; step-son, Ian Micah Sweany, and wife Tammy; two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth Walker and their spouses; and one sister, Marti Mason.
Special friends and care givers include: David Loring and Carol Richards, Bob and Tammy Butler, Kathie Phillips, Bill and Becky Satterly, and Marlene Lentz.
Sylvia was a devoted wife and mother who devoted her life to her family and nursing career. She always encouraged her children to never settle for less than they could be and supported them in their aspirations, whether it was at a shooting competition, a horse show, or their education.
Sylvia always had a special place in her heart for animals. She was not blessed with grandchildren; however, her family did bless her with four-legged dog and cat children grandchildren.
