Maurice Dorie Short born on December 15, 1934 in Trinity, Texas to George Leon Thompson and Ever Skains Thompson, passed away in Huntsville, Texas at the age of 79. Those left to cherish her memory are children, Paulette Short, Kari Short Jones grandchildren, John Henry Jones and Nolan Jones step children, Hershel Short, John Short and Wayne Short. Dorie was preceded in death by both her parents, husband, John W. Short brothers, Willie Leon Thompson, Pete Thompson and Pat Thompson sisters, Marie Jernigan, Ruth Crowe and Bernice Gates numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Family will receive friends on August 19, 2014 between 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Huntsville Church of Christ, 3737 Texas 30, in Huntsville, Texas, with a Celebration of Dories Life beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor John Spencer officiating. Pallbearers will be Don Andrews, Larry Cox, Nelson Thompson, Sam Thompson, Rowdy Smith and Eric Poppitt. Interment will follow at the Trinity Cedar Grove Cemetery off Hwy 230 in Trinity, Texas.
