Billy Joe BJ Freitag, 82, passed away September 8 , 2013 with his daughters surrounding him. He was born on Feb. 26, 1931 in Oak Hill, Texas to Rev. George and Dorothy Freitag. He married and started his family in 1951. In 1960 BJ moved his family to Houston. There he started his beloved Star Concrete Construction Company and spent the next 35 years growing it into a successful business. He served as President of the Houston Contractors Association and was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. BJ. is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Patricia, his parents, two brothers, Bobby and Boyd and son, James. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Horton and husband Art, Debbie Baker and husband Rick, Pam Dyson and husband Brad, sister, Betty Anderson, brothers, Boyce and Brent, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11 am at Jersey Village Baptist Church, 16518 Jersey Drive, Houston, 77040, with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society.
BJ will be fondly remembered and will be greatly missed.
