Funeral services for Phillip Newton Young, were held Saturday, April 5,2007, 2:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home, with Bro. Larry Shine officiating. Interment followed in the Concord Cemetery at Rye. Visitation was Friday evening from 4:00PM to 9:00 PM. Mr. Young passed away May 2,2007 in the Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Mr. Young loved to fish and loved fish frys. He liked to river bank fish. He was a jack of all trades and a true family man and was always there for them no matter what. Phillip and Gertrude belonged to the Boots and Babes Square Dance Club.
He was born in Fernadia, Florida. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Muriel and Elizabeth Goodbread Young and his three brothers.
His survivors are his wife, Gertrude Fowler Young, of 60 years and nine months. His son Herbert Young and wife Theresa, his daughter Brenda Courts and husband Eddie. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandkids; Billy Sadler, Chance Sadler, Cody Sadler, Johnathan Sadler, Eddie Pitts, Joh Adams , Bryan Counts and honorary pallbearers will be Shane Adams and Bryan Counts, Jr.
