Sissy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother who found great joy in cooking and caring for her family. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome, and there was always room for one more at her table. She had a little sass and a way with words that made her unforgettable. She often reminded those she loved that they were stronger than they thought they were, sharing her wisdom and encouragement in her own special way.
Sissy shared 73 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Carlie Jacob Smith, until his passing in 2020. Together, they built a life filled with love and raised their two children.
She was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas.
Sissy is survived by her son, Howard Jake Smith; her daughter, Deborah Wright, and husband, John; her grandchildren, Tom Smith (Kevin), Mike Smith (Melissa), Emily Smith, and Terry White (Tatum); her great-grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Amber DeLaune, Brady Smith, Blake Smith, Trace White, Karly Smith, Landon Smith, Nadia Hickey, Leahna Hathaway, and Gracie White; six great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous loved ones and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dolly Simpson, Sr.; her husband, Carlie Jacob Smith; her sister, Betty Jean Prince; and her brother, Lloyd Dawson Simpson, Jr.
Pallbearers: Terry White, Trace White, Tom Smith, Landon Smith, Justin Van Devender and Mark Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Smith, Kenny Pitts, Scott David, Ben Hindsman, Christian Schanmier and Kevin McCardle.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. The Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.
