She is survived by her husband, Charles Patrick Sandlin; daughters, Holly Sandlin, Misty Sandlin Dowdell & husband Stephen, Sactricia Sweeney & husband James, Flecia Donahoe & husband Dalton sons; Brady Reeves, Faron Sandlin & wife Tommie, grandchildren; Amber Sandlin Imada & husband Tsunetaka, Margie Sandlin Wallace & husband Cody, Kelsey Sandlin, Bubba Sandlin, Kathlynn Dowdell, Stephen Dowdell JR, Rachel Martin, and fiancé Will Weston, Atasha Slagel & husband Chris; 16 great-grandkids, and numerous other relatives and a host of friends and students. She graduated from SHSU; was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary at the VFW. As well as a lifetime supporter of law enforcement officers. Shirley retired as a teacher from New Caney ISD and Substituted many years for the Onalaska school District.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Preston Davis Burke, Edna Mae Clark; Beloved Mother-in-law Reba Sandlin, Grandson; Frankie Dowdell.
