In Loving Memory of Ronnie Don Barrett August 11, 1952 - June 21, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ronnie Don Barrett, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Father's Day, at the age of 73.
Born on August 11, 1952, Ronnie lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering faith, and unconditional love for his family. A lifelong resident of Onalaska, Texas, he was known by many as an incredible electrician, mechanic, carpenter, and true jack-of-all-trades. There wasn't much Ronnie couldn't fix, build, or figure out. If someone needed help, Ronnie was always there. Above all else, Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was the center of his world, and he spent his life loving, protecting, and providing for those he held dear. To his family, Ronnie was our Superman. He often said that one day he would have to "hang up his cape" and wouldn't be able to rescue us anymore. On Father's Day, our Superman finally hung up his cape.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, wisdom, and strength will continue to guide us. The cape may be hanging now, but the hero who wore it will live forever in our hearts. Ronnie's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved his Harley-Davidson, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the simple blessings of life. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh, share a story, offer advice, or lend a helping hand. More than anything, Ronnie loved the Lord. He constantly praised God for the many blessings in his life and boldly shared his testimony with anyone who would listen. After surviving a heart attack, quadruple bypass surgery, an aneurysm, and a stroke, he often spoke of the miracles God had performed in his life. He shared that during the times he briefly passed from this world, he saw his mother and his brother, Terry, and even witnessed doctors working to save his life. Those experiences only strengthened his faith and his love for Jesus Christ. He truly believed that God had spared him many times for a reason, and he lived every day with gratitude and a heart full of praise.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Merrill William Emery; his mother, Billie Jo Emery; his sisters, Diana DuBose and Joanne DuBose; his brothers, Darrell Lee Barrett and Terry Lynn Emery; sister-in-law, Diane Barrett; and many other beloved family members who welcomed him home into eternity. Brother-in-Law Oscar DuBose
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Fay Barrett, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, memories, and devotion. He is also survived by his children: Ronald Anthony Barrett and wife, Stephanie Lynne Barrett; Tamitha Michelle Urias and husband, Ronnie Rosas Urias; Ronda Gail Stash and husband, James Stash; Sherri Ann Brown; Jesse Brown, Sr.; and Jesse Brown, Jr. and spouse, Teriana Brown. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Brooklea Michelle Chapman, Blayne Anthony Chapman, Anthony Daniel Barrett, Desse Barrett, Maddux Brown, Aaron Stash, JayJay Stash, Jon Jon George, Garrett George, and Corey George. His legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren: Stetson George, Russell George, Maddyn George, Melanie Brown, Maya Brown, Elizabeth Barrett, Gracelyn Barrett, and Niklaus Barrett. Ronnie is also survived by his brother, Michael Merrall Emery and wife, Ginger Emery; his sisters, Dawn Jean Byers and Cheryl Ann Thompson and husband, Paul Thompson; brothers-in-law Oscar DuBose and Glenn DuBose; his beloved pup Willie Nelson Barrett; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.
There are no words to express the emptiness left by his passing. There will be no more good morning texts, weather reports, words of wisdom, or hearing his laughter when we needed it most. We will miss the little things most of all-the messages to check on us, the reminders that he loved us, and knowing that no matter what life brought our way, Dad was always there. We would give anything for one more text, one more conversation, one more hug, and one more day with our Superman. But we rejoice in knowing that he is healed, whole, and finally at peace in the presence of Jesus Christ. We can only imagine the reunion as he was welcomed home by his parents, Merrill William Emery and Billie Jo Emery; his brother, Terry Lynn Emery; and all the loved ones who had gone before him.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
Dad, you were our protector, our teacher, our hero, and our Superman. You spent your life rescuing all of us, and now you've finally hung up your cape. Though we will miss you every day, we take comfort in knowing that Heaven gained one of the very best. Your love and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
