Marilyn was born the daughter of H. A. and Gracie Overstreet Mathews. She received her education in the Big Sandy I.S.D., graduating as a Valedictorian in 1967. She went on to get a diploma from Massey Business College, in accounting and secretarial duties, and some 60 hours of workshop certification from Region VI Texas Agency. She began her working career when she was 18 years old as a secretary for an insurance agency. She went on to hold several secretary positions including Polk County Agricultural Agency, Local Texas Health Department, County Judge and Local attorneys. By far her most favorite job was her last job as a paraprofessional in the special education classroom for Big Sandy I.S.D., She spent 18 years at the school and retired in 2007.
She was a long-time member of Big Sandy Baptist Church. Served on various committees, church pianist for many years, she also worked and directed many vacation bible schools. She loved her church and was a woman of God that loved Jesus. She is preceded in death in death by her parents, her forever soulmate, best friend and husband of 45 years, Leroy Langley; and her stepson, Charles Ray Langley.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Jennie Tipton; sons, Arnold Langley & wife Sandy, Randall Langley & wife Paula, Paul Langley &wife Sharon; grandchildren, Amber forester, Tracy Forester, Haley Langley, Rheagan Baxter & husband Dyllan; special grandsons, Michael Owens & wife Julia, and Tony Putman; great grand-children, Chasitie Langley, Chloe Langley, Jadyn Langley Caden Langley Issiah Rodriguez, Acacia Forester, Alycia Lotfi, Zoe Forester, Giana Forester, and Shuggies Forester; great- great-grandchildren, Neveah Langley Vickery, Oaklee Crim. Brentley Crim, Anastasia Rodriguez, Issiah Rodriguez Jr., Avianna Rodriguez, Carson Carrillo, Alison Carana, and Onyxx Forester.
She is also survived by special friends, Robert & Elaine Rosier, Jan Slack, Cody Cater, Victoria Pryor, Kailee Hart, Tara & Tyler Sample, Sheila Brock her best friend, and coloring partner.
