Horrace Dalton Cain 87, of New Caney, Texas, passed away January 18, 2024, at his home in New Caney, Texas. Horrace was born February 19, 1936, to Ralph and Mary Lucille (Moye) Cain in Segno, Texas.

From early in life, he became fascinated with airplanes both building planes from balsa wood, paper planes powered by rubber bands to gas engine planes. Interest was increased by Mrs. Tyler in 4th grade and in 6th grade where his teacher, Mr. Herring, was a P-40 pilot in World War II. Horrace built models throughout his life. He was a leader in the National Association of Aero Modeling, AMA. His life was aviation. Horrace entered the United States Air Force in June of 1955 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in November of 1956. He held all three United States Air Force aviation ratings: Pilot, Navigator and Bombardier and piloted for United Airlines for 28 years.
Model aviation was a lifelong passion. He was a longtime member and officer of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, a member of many model clubs in Texas and Illinois. Horrace founded the Jetero Club in Huffman, Texas.

His other passions were hunting and fishing Menard and Big Sandy Creek and other favorite fishing holes in the “Big Thicket”. Later in life he was able to fish in the oceans and rivers throughout the Country.

Horrace attended Big Sandy School in Dallardsville, Texas from 1st to 12th grade. He attended both Magnolia Hill Baptist Church and Magnolia Hill Assembly of God Church and later joined The Little Country Church in New Caney, Texas. Daily he would look towards the sky and say,
“Thank You Sir for the blessings.”

Horrace is survived by his wife, Carol Cain; daughters, Joy L. Goreham and husband Jon, Debbie M. Williams and husband Tucker; sons, Gary L. Cain and wife Jennifer, Gerald K. Cain and fiancé Kim, Timothy Phelan and wife Megan; sister, Twila J. Ramsey; special friends, Tracy Starkey, Linda Cain; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous other family members and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Lucille Cain.
Visitation will be held from 11a-12p Wednesday, January 24, 2024, with A Celebration of Life to begin at 12p at Pace Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Hovater officiating.

Interment to follow at Magnolia Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 8568.
