Louetta Griffin Kane was born December 12, 1931 to Ansa Vee Williams and Louis Griffin and passed away early Sunday morning, September 16th, 2018.
She was raised in what is now called "Bluewater" until she left home after graduating high school. Louetta went on to attend a business college and then to work in Houston for a short time until she married T.W. Kane in August of 1953. She was a very beautiful young lady and was voted most beautiful in Livingston High School. If anyone made comment about her "fame" she would say that it was a VERY small school. Louetta was a talented seamstress and made her wedding dress. Her cooking and family meals were a memory that is treasured by all to this day. Louetta and T.W. had 3 children: Thomas William Kane, Paul Gregory Kane, and Diane Alyse Kane Matula. They both worked hard to support their family and raise the kids. For a few years they lived and worked on "Kane's Apiaries" in Sublime, TX. Louetta took the bee business to a more retail level by creating a tiny storefront on the farm where bottled honey could be displayed and sold. In 1967, they moved to Wharton and she later went to work for 38 years for the Wharton Independent School District as a secretary to two Assistant Superintendents and three Superintendents. Anyone who had anything to do with the school district would tell you that Mrs. Kane could answer any question and try to solve any problem on behalf of the students and employees. Louetta and T. W. enjoyed several years of "country life" in a small cabin they built and moved to a portion of land passed down to her from her father, Louis Griffin, just a stone's throw from their graves. Louetta had a beautiful singing voice and was often asked to sing for weddings, funerals, and special events. She was in the church choir in any place she lived and was a woman of faith and amazing strength.
Louetta is survived by her children, Thomas and wife Cassie, Paul and wife Sabrina, Diane and husband Ludvik. Grandchildren Ansa, Charlie, Lindsey, Lance, Lola, Emalie, Valerie and Katie. She also had six great-grandchildren, Ellie, Lyra, Chavonne and Walter, Kevin and Ruby. Louetta is also survived by her brother Grady and sister-in-law Linda and brother Donald, with many nieces and nephews who mourn her passing.
A grave side service will be held Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 at Bluewater Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family at this time for a service of remembrance and celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louetta to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org/donate
