Gerald (Jerry) Hudson Pace, 72, of Sneedville, Tennessee, formerly of Livingston, Texas died suddenly on November 17, 2016 due to heart complications.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hines Pace; father, Perry Pace, Jr.; stepmother, Doris Standard Pace (Dorsie); brother, Terry Pace; mother-in-law, Doris Leewright (Granny); and his children’s grandmother, Ethelyn Murray (Nannie).
He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Doris Marie; his children, the pride and joy of his life, son, Hudson (Marta) of Gothenburg, Sweden; daughter, Clare (Logan) Rodgers of San Antonio, Texas; and their mother, Suetta Albin of Belton, Texas; his step children, Steven Price (Lisa) of Diboll, Texas; step daughter, Stacie (William) Strain of Urania, Louisiana; step grandchildren, Robyn, Katelynn and Braedon Price, Emileigh and Josh Schmidt; step great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kynsleigh, and Jacob; brother, Perry Pace; step sister, Dalva Moseley and step brother, F. Dennis (Bubba) Rowe (Helen); sister-in-law, Marsha Pace all of Livingston, Texas; brother-in-law, Kenneth Rhame of Buna, Texas and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was born on April 10, 1944 and lived most of his life in Livingston, Texas. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1962; attended the University of Houston where he was a cheerleader for the Cougars. He then graduated from San Antonio Mortuary School before returning to Livingston to join the family funeral business. He was a member of the Trinity #14 Masonic Lodge of Livingston. He served as President of the Rotary Club in 1976-77 and President of the Chamber in 1976 and was Polk County Man of the Year in 1977. He and Doris moved to the beautiful Tennessee mountains in 2007 where he spent his time walking in the woods, enjoying their creek and kayaking the Clinch River. Jerry loved being ONE with nature until the day he died. He loved his family and always said there were no “steps” in our family. He was a very loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at Pace Funeral Home on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at 7 PM. Please join us in celebrating his life.
