Jo Dean Hawkins
February 2, 1933 - September 7, 2016  

Jo Dean Hufstedler Hawkins, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on September 7, 2016 in Onalaska, TX. She was born the middle daughter of three girls in Trenton, Tennessee on February 2, 1933. She attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee. It was there she met her lifelong love of 60 years, John McKinnie Hawkins. They married on September 12, 1954 and have 4 Children.
Jo Dean was 83 years of age and survived by her two sisters Sybil Rogers and Sarah Proctor, by her four loving children: Sons: Steve (wife, Barbara), Joe (wife, Lea) and Richard Hawkins and daughter Sybil McElyea (husband, Kevin). She has 7 Grandchildren: Michelle Cheatham, Tara Porfirio, Lauren McElyea, Gabi Hamilton, Annie Hames, Stefan Hawkins, and Collin Hawkins. She has 5 Great Grandchildren: Dysen Meador, Brayden and Austin Cheatham, Madeline Porfirio and Zaiden McElyea.
Jo Dean has spent her life serving in church congregations as the Business Manager/ Financial Secretary. She worked for Klein United Methodist Church in Spring, TX and she presently works for First United Methodist Church Livingston, TX. where she just celebrated her 22nd anniversary on Aug. 29th serving this congregation. She has touched many lives and made special friends along the way. She loved and was loved by many. We will miss her smile.
Mrs. Hawkins’ immediate family would be pleased to have you join us in this celebration on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00;.m. at First United Methodist Church, Livingston, Texas with Reverend Steve Woody officiating. Visitation will begin at noon until the service on Saturday, September 10. 2016.
