Dr. Richard Marion Becka 8l of Onalaska formerly of Bryan College Station died on sunday, June 24, 2007 at his daughter's residence. A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 11,1925 to parents John and Frances Becka. Mr. Becka lived in Bryan College Station for 38 years. He retired from Texas AM as Philosopher Emeritus. He was a member of the American Maritain Association and the Society of St. Thomas. Mr. Becka is credited with writing the text book Personal Being of Man in 1957 at the University of Detroit. He also served in WWII in the Army Air Force. Richard loved the mountains and woods of Washington State where he also loved to look for brown bears. He also loved to plant trees for the environment.

Mr. Becka is preceded in death by his parents John and Frances Becka, grandson, Finis Elijah Becka, brothers Stan Becka, Al Becka, Paul Becka and sister Fran Brophy. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene Becka, children Ann Babbitt, Richard Becka Jr., Therese Becka, Irene Griffin, David Becka, Mary Richards, Andrea McFarlin, Jeanne McFarlin, Madeline Nichols, Roberta Becka and sister Miriam Bodner. His grandchildren; Daytonya Fountain, Serena Rodriquez, Stan Babbitt, Zoe Fleming, Shannon Richards, David Richards, James Ian Richards, Nicole Prejean, Rachel McFarlin, Monica McFarlin, Travis Redd, Leah Becka, Nicholas McFarlin, Emily McFarlin, Clara Becka; his great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Cristina, Mia, Aiden and Miriam.

Memorials can be made to Brazos Valley Coalition for Life in Bryan College Station, or the Mt. Carmel Gift Shop in the St. Jospeh's Catholic Church in Bryan College Station.
